The materiality of this territory activates specific relationships that demand constant negotiation and change for those who inhabit it. Lichen functions as a figure of thought: a symbiotic organism that sustains difference between its parts in order to inhabit the volcano's extreme conditions. The artist assembles herself into the gaps of the basalt, proposing the body as sensitive matter that affects and is affected. The piece rehearses a coexistence aware that all presence alters.
