Installation resulting from a two-month residency with curatorial guidance from olgaMargarita Dávila at Lagos, Mexico City. During her residency, the artist investigated the dichotomies that separate, hierarchize, and nullify the essential value of life itself, with particular interest in the separation between nature and humanity. In an exploration that runs counter to the rigidity of these systems, she sought flexibility through matter and experimented with biopolymers (organic plastic). From this emerged the concept of membrane: porous barriers that separate and connect at once, allowing for both contact and difference. The piece consists of translucent strips of biopolymer suspended from the ceiling, some encapsulating remnants of organic or synthetic matter. Through these membranes, a video is projected showing an encounter between parts of the human body and parts of the body of the earth. The work does not insist on unity, but on distinct parts that coexist without hierarchy.
